I’d love to talk, but this is and always has been my favorite outlet.
I am writing because I know I am not the only one who feels the overwhelming pressure to get it right. We all want to get it right, whether it is for ourselves, our family, or to prove to our younger selves that we showed up.
Whatever your reason is, do not let it make you forget how fun it is getting there. Not getting it right, because I am going to tell you something right now. That is impossible.
There will always be something that could be better or needs fixing. It is not going to be one hundred percent perfect, but it is going to be damn good because you made it. You created it. You saw a vision and brought it into real life. That is so fucking cool.
If you are in the process of making something attainable, be proud of that. You could have just envisioned it and decided it was too much work or too hard, but you did not.
At the beginning of the year, there is a moment of reflection that I think a good amount of us experience. With that reflection, we look at the joyful times we will forever be grateful for, and then we look at the incomplete and unfinished ones.
Like when you said you wanted to learn how to draw, or go to the gym every Tuesday after work, or eat better, or start giving more time to your hobbies. No matter what it is, time is not up.
You are still here reading this, which means you can and you will if you want to. It is your choice. If you change your mind and something new and exciting fits you better now than it did at the beginning of 2025, then good. Do it.
Do not listen to the voices that make you feel like a failure or a total letdown because you did not complete something on an imaginary time clock you set for yourself. Yes, you. And guess what? You can set it again.
This time, remember this for 2026. Have fun with what you choose to do. Connect with those who fill you and love you. Explore different parts of yourself and places in life.
Do not hold yourself back. Do not tie yourself down to some list.
I'm here for you.
